Earlier work
Since graduating, the figure has stayed at the centre of my work. Sometimes I build a clear story around it, and other times I try to remove narrative altogether and let the painting simply exist. I work slowly, layering glazes and scumbles, and I’ve noticed the same ideas and images returning over time. Swim caps, ruffs, and paper crowns keep reappearing, alongside flowing dresses, water, and birds, often without planning, and have become familiar, recurring elements that shape my work.
