Ruffs
In this series, I use ruffs to bring the old and the new together. Once symbols of wealth, status, and privilege, they’re worn here by young women just starting out in life. Some ruffs are carefully formed, while others fall apart or drip down the canvas, pointing to how fragile and uneven access to success can be. The work reflects women’s roles today, where opportunities are still unequal, and many women are expected to succeed at work while also carrying the roles of partner and mother.
